A friend recently told me they went to see their grandchildren but had to cut the visit short because the children were sick. Like most people, my friend thought he would get sick from being around their germs and didn’t want to take the chance. He thought this was wisdom, but I disagreed. I explained that Psalm 91 was one of my favorite Bible passages about divine healing because it promises God’s protection from sickness to those that trust Him. Among other things it says “no plague will approach your tent.”

I too used to avoid sick people because I was afraid of catching what they had. Now I hug them. My fears have vanished because I have come to trust God and His word. The scripture says that “Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you.” and I believe God. I frequently meditate on Psalm 91 so I don’t forget His promises and fall back into worldly thinking. I encourage you to meditate on it too.

I often say that the reason many Christians aren’t being healed is because they respond to sickness the same way as unbelievers. It’s not only about how we act, but how we think about sickness too. Why should I fear sickness when my Almighty God says He will protect me?
